Throughout 2010, the company complied with the provisions and applied the Main Principles of Section 1 of the Combined Code, except that Dr Stephanie Burns, Larry Culp and Tom de Swaan were unable to attend the company's 2010 AGM.

Dr Stephanie Burns and Larry Culp were prevented from attending due to travel disruption caused by the ash clouds from the volcano in Iceland and Tom de Swaan was required to chair a shareholder meeting of another public company on the same day. This resulted in partial non-compliance with code provision D.2.3.
