The Programme
- Associates will be provided with a solid grounding in Procurement through a variety of challenging roles that will push you to your limits, but will be underpinned by the appropriate levels of support and training.
- The programme is structured into 3, 12-month assignments within separate procurement areas. These areas include Production, International and Global Systems and Operations.
- On a day to day basis you’ll be responsible for managing GSK spend on particular categories, building and running e-bid events/auctions, project management, supplier conditioning and negotiation, data analysis, market research, and stakeholder engagement.
- When nearing the end of each assignment you’ll work with the management team to identify the next business area that will be appropriate for your skill development and meet business needs.
- At the end of the programme, if you have delivered to the standards that we expect of you, you will be supported into a role within the business.
- In order to be successful on this programme you need to be resilient, commercially driven, have strong analytical skills, a self starter, establish good working relationships, and have excellent communication skills.
Training and development
- On joining individuals go through a departmental, corporate, and procurement specific induction process.
- Procurement Associates will participate in the Sourcing Group Management programme to learn how they can apply best practice tools and techniques in the development and implementation of an integrated procurement strategy.
- Associates will also participate in quarterly developmental planning activities with their line manager in order to identify learning requirements. Individuals will be supported by their line manager, the Global Learning Team and existing associates on the Procurement programme.
- In 2004 The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply awarded GSK as having the best Training and Development initiative within a procurement organisation.
