GSK has a number of different communications departments all of which play a vital role in managing communications both internally and externally.
The Corporate Communications department plays a key role in managing company image and reputation by developing and delivering consistent messages to employees and external audiences through a variety of media.
The opportunities available fall into three main areas:
Communications - Consumer Healthcare (Comms CH) - (you should be studying for a communications, media, PR, journalism, marketing, business, advertising or a combined degree with any of these subjects).
You should also have strong writing skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office competently including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer.
Some of the key activities that the candidate would get involved in are:
Communications - Web and Multimedia (Comms Web) - (you should be studying for a computing, communications, media, multimedia degree or a combined degree with any of these subjects).
You will have strong IT skills and be competent with Microsoft Office, Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash and other technologies used for creating and managing websites. Additionally, you should have sound programming skills including XHTML, CSS and an understanding of Web 2.0 technologies.

The GSK PULSE Volunteer Partnership is a new initiative that empowers employees to make a significant difference in impoverished communities, at home or abroad.
Transformational change can happen when employees use, share and pass on their professional skills and knowledge during a 3 – 6 month immersion experience within a non-profit or non-governmental organisation (NGO). The industrial placement role will focus primarily on communication to promote the PULSE programme into the hearts and minds of employees, as well as contributing to selection and deployment of our volunteers.
