Your application is very important to us and we want to make applying for a job at GSK as rewarding an experience as possible. Check out the step-by-step guide to our recruitment process below.
Start by searching for a job opening that interests you, and matches your skills, knowledge and experience. You can search by job type, location, areas of interest, or even by a key word or two.
First, use the search function on this website (http://www.gsk.com/careers/uk-saa-jobsearch.htm) to find a suitable vacancy. When you find a job that interests you and matches your skills, knowledge and experience, click the 'Apply for this job' button at the end of the job description. (If you can't find a suitable job, don't worry. Save your search and you'll be notified by email when jobs matching your search criteria come up.)
You can create your personal account on the job search page. This will enable you to add or edit your details, view your application status, create and view saved job searches, receive email alerts, store and edit your covering letter, CV and supporting documents.
Apply online by submitting your CV/resume, if you provide an email address you'll get an acknowledgement to let you know we are reviewing it. You can log in to your account at any time to check the status of your application (http://www.gsk.com/careers/uk-saa-jobsearch.htm).
Fill in the online application form, ensuring that all red field names are complete. Briefly state why you're interested in the job, and follow the instructions to upload your CV into the field provided. You can also upload up to three supporting documents up to 150 KB in size. If you do not already have a CV, you can use the 'Build CV' link to create one.
When you submit your application, we'll let you know by an on-screen message that it has safely arrived. If you provided us with your email address, you will receive a further acknowledgement email when your application arrives in the recruiter's inbox.
If we'd like more information, we'll often contact you to arrange a phone interview. This enables us to assess whether you should be brought in for in-person interviews. Typically phone interviews last about 30 minutes.
The recruiter will review your application, and if your CV matches the requirements of your job, they'll forward it to the appropriate hiring manager who has a vacancy in their team.
The hiring manager reviews all the suitable applications for the job and selects the candidates who will be invited for a phone or in-person interview.
During your interview, we'll ask you competency-based questions which focus on how you've used your skills, knowledge and experience in specific tasks in past roles. It's not a question of getting the answers right or wrong, but providing relevant examples of your work experience which demonstrate evidence of your ability to do the job you've applied for.
If you are invited to interview we'll usually try to contact you by phone or email first to check your availability. We'll then send you full details by letter or email.
Prepare for your interview by reviewing our interview hints and tips and interview candidate's handbook (http://www.gsk.com/careers/uk-hints.htm).
Following your interviews, your interviewers will get together to decide if you are suitable for the job. We take hiring very seriously and it can take a while for us to make a definitive decision. Please be patient - your recruiter will keep in touch with you when feedback has been received and decisions made. You can also contact your recruiter at any time.
Following the interviews, the interviewers meet to evaluate all candidates against the job requirements and the hiring manager selects the most suitable candidate.
If you are selected, the recruiter will contact you to make you a verbal offer. This will be followed up by a written offer letter, in which we'll explain the next steps including our pre-employment screening process.
Following your successful pre-employment screening, we'll finalise your start date and induction details.
