How long have you been at GSK?
I started working at GSK in September 2005.

What made you apply to GSK?
Initially I was attracted to GSK by its reputation as a global leader in the Pharmaceutical industry. This attraction was enforced by the ranking in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers. I was also attracted to GSK because of its strong ethical code, and the far reaching benefits that the organisation could have - this was very important as I would be doing a job that helped improved the lives of others.

What made you apply to the IT Development Programme (ITDP)?
I was looking for a career with ongoing progression, coupled with first class training and career progression. The aim of the programme (to produce effective IT managers and professionals of the future) also met with my ambitions. The overall structure of the scheme was also very appealing, proving experiences of different business units and IT functions within GSK.

What was your first role?
I was working as a Project Manager in Network Services where I was accountable for managing and delivering a number of projects. The biggest and most challenging project was to integrate a recently purchased site in Croatia into GSK. This project involved the management of multiple 3rd parties and European partners alongside regular GSK employees. Whilst extremely challenging and sometimes stressful this project allowed me to gain invaluable experience in managing and delivering large scale projects.

What have been your subsequent roles?
My second has been as a Business Analyst for Global Pack Management (Supply Chain IT). Currently I am working on the upgrade of a large application that is used to support the generation of artwork and packaging materials. I have been responsible for analysing specific business problems, such as reporting and defining appropriate solutions to address these issues.

For such a fast paced environment everybody is really supportive

What kind of support do you get?
The support on the development programme is extremely valuable. The associates form a tight community who are always willing to help each other out, we are not only colleagues but also friends and this bond is enforced through out of work socialising. The buddy system allows the associates to ask questions they wouldn’t feel comfortable asking their manager. I also have the support of my line manger, my aligned ITDP manager and I have also sought out a Vice President as a mentor.

What is the company culture like for you?
The company culture is very good, for such a fast paced and dynamic environment everybody is incredibly friendly and really supportive. Each team has there own unique culture, however all of these are supportive and cognitive to doing your best work.
