Careers information for school students

Do you want a career where you will be part of a team helping people around the world live longer, healthier and happier lives?

The pharmaceutical industry invests millions of pounds each day to research and develop new medicines to prevent and treat illnesses.

It takes between 10 and 12 years to develop a new medicine.  This process involves a number of stages.  Each stage depends on teams of skilled people from different backgrounds.  Our Research & Development teams invent and test compounds that may be made into new medicines, our Manufacturing teams produce and package the medicines, and our Marketing and Sales teams make sure that doctors and other health professionals are aware of the benefits of the new medicines. These teams are supported by people in a range of areas including Engineering, Information Technology, Procurement, Finance, Legal and Human Resources.

For information on the different careers in our industry take a look at this Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry website.
