Purchasing / Procurement Summer Internship
Each year GSK spends more than £7 billion on materials, services, and capital equipment. It is the role of Procurement to manage this spend and source suppliers for all strategic and operational purchases at GSK.
Our mission is to enable GSK to achieve its operational and financial objectives, by delivering significant savings while meeting or exceeding all business requirements - including availability, quality, and service. Our core business process, Sourcing Group Management, involves cross-functional collaboration between Procurement professionals and our internal business partners to maximise the benefit of supplier agreements and contracts to GSK.
We are offering you the opportunity to work with senior procurement professions for 10 to 12 weeks during your summer vacation. The work will focus on specific assignments to deliver benefit to Procurement’s business partners; Commercial, Production, Research & Development, IT and Corporate Services. During this time you will be provided with the appropriate level of support and training.
Procurement UK operations are centralised in GSK House, Brentford, with satellite operations in Ware in Hertfordshire and Barnard Castle in Yorkshire.
- Placements with run between July and September
- Location: Brentford or Ware
In order to be successful in this role we are looking for the following:
- Studying for a degree in any discipline but preference for business studies, purchasing, supply chain, logistics focus
- You must be within your penultimate year of study - the internship should take place in the summer vacation prior to your final year
- Expecting a 2.1 or higher
- Eligible to work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Interested in pursuing a career in Procurement / Purchasing
- Previous work experience in any field
- Demonstrate leadership potential
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to build good working relationships across all levels of seniority within the organisation
- High level of numeric and computer literacy.
