GSK's contribution of IP for neglected tropical diseases

GSK is contributing various patents and assets to WIPO Re:Search to help accelerate R&D into the 17 neglected tropical diseases listed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) such as dengue, rabies and Chagas disease as well as malaria and tuberculosis. These include:

  • GSK patents and patent applications covering small molecules and formulations directed at developing treatments and delivery technologies for neglected tropical diseases.
  • GSK patents and patent applications not specifically directed to those neglected tropical diseases, but that cover small molecule formulations, delivery technologies or processes of manufacture or use that could assist a researcher in developing a new or improved medicine to treat one of the neglected tropical diseases.
  • GSK know-how – we will also consider requests from researchers for help in pursuing projects aimed at developing treatments for neglected tropical diseases where we may have relevant expertise. Our Tres Cantos research centre in Spain is dedicated to finding new molecules to fight diseases of the developing world. We are opening up access to this site and inviting scientists worldwide to collaborate with our research teams.
