Following the groundbreaking commitments GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) made to improve access to medicines for neglected diseases in least developed countries, Andrew Witty, CEO of GSK, revisited Kenya and Uganda to see, first-hand, the impact of established community programmes and explore what more can be done.
During July 2009, Andrew travelled to Katine sub-county in northeastern Uganda to visit a development project where AMREF launched a partnership with the Guardian newspaper.
See Andrew speaking from Kibera slum in Kenya and Katine in Uganda – two of the poorest places on the planet – as he discusses the enormous challenges and his determination that we can make a positive impact.
GSK has an ongoing relationship with AMREF and established a GSK Challenge Fund to help support AMREF. Please go to Just Giving to contribute to AMREF's work in Africa.
