The pharma industry is at a very interesting stage right now, with a significant shift in the way we interact with healthcare practitioners, and GSK is at the forefront of that change.

Listening to doctors during my sales rotation helped me understand the importance of patient focus at a profound level. It gave me a deep insight into doctors’ daily routine and the challenges they face. And in my current role, it means I can identify the right opportunities to pursue based on patient insights.

The people at GSK make it a great place to work because there’s such an amazing sense of team work and support. In the Philippines I was inspired by two GSK colleagues to do a triathlon. It was a wonderful achievement when we all finished the race. I then took that spirit with me to Singapore and completed another triathlon race with three other people from the Future Leaders Programme.

During the FLP programme, I’ve worked in Poland and the Philippines. Currently I’m in my permanent role based in Singapore. In all these locations, it’s been easy to find friends to spend time with outside work. Plus, it’s so different when you’re living in a country instead of being a tourist. You really get to know the place and the people.

GSK is 100% open to talent, wherever you come from and whatever your background. It’s all down to your skills and ambition.

In the Philippines I worked on a project which aims to improve access to a high quality, inhaled asthma therapy for low to middle income patients across Emerging Markets, Asia Pacific, Africa and developing countries. This allowed me to see first hand how GSK improves people’s lives, which is really touching. Doctors have told me it’s so important that we’re providing access to this treatment for patients who would otherwise have to rely on less effective oral medicines.

Working in sales has been an important part of my career development. In my sales rotation, I worked in Poland and was assigned around 60 customers. My discussions with them gave me a deep insight into doctors’ daily routines and the challenges they face.
