Commercial management
Pakistan

The programme has helped me develop my personal skills through development workshops. What I love about these workshops is that all the trainees in the region come together and we learn so much from each other.

I have the chance to be in a room with colleagues from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Nigeria, who all have different opinions, cultures and ways of working. It’s a true example of diversity in action.

As a culture-driven company, GSK has consistently selected the best people to support me throughout my programme. My line manager and the teams I’ve worked with have constantly guided me on how to handle different work situations. In fact, they’ve always been there whenever I’ve needed guidance or help.

My leadership team are experts in their fields and they have great people management and development skills. I’m constantly learning from them. In addition, my line manager has been a personal role model for me, helping me realise that work-life balance is essential for both personal health and professional efficiency.

Coming from a developing country, I’ve always wanted to make a difference and help improve people’s lives.

Coming from a developing country, I’ve always wanted to make a difference and help improve people’s lives. When I was growing up, I saw that good doctors and hospitals were only available in large cities in Pakistan, which meant that some people in rural communities didn’t get the healthcare they needed.

That’s why it’s been so rewarding to work on the Lady Health Workers project in rural areas of Pakistan. The initiative trains female community health workers in the prevention and treatment of common illnesses. GSK is supporting the project, showing how its products can help people to live healthier, happier lives.

During my sales rotation, I learned a huge amount about the FMCG trade landscape in Pakistan and enjoyed having the chance to travel to different cities such as Karachi, Peshawar and Islamabad.

Meanwhile, the highlight of my marketing rotation was leading the launch of Horlicks NutriQuest (a mobile application for kids) via TV, digital, print, in-store and in shopping centres. It was a major launch that gave me 360-degree exposure to marketing activities for brands.
