Training for confidence. Mogens Jensen has been preparing for his ascent of Everest for months, literally adding weight to his already strict training for general fitness.

As this year's attempt drew closer, Mogens added a 68kg backpack to his regular walking routine, one that included a weekly cycling total of 500-600km, running a total of 100km, plus strength training in the gym three times a week.

"My level of fitness helps me feel very motivated, strong and confident about the final ascent."

"However, it is important for me to be humble. The mountains can humble you very quickly. I am certain that given the right circumstances, I have what it takes to climb to the summit and return safely. On the other hand, I never get too cocky. The mountain punishes people who get too cocky. But I feel ready for the task."
