Philadelphia, PA - March 25, 2004 -- GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK) applauds the news today that a number of CMS-sponsored cards will soon be available to help those seniors for whom lack of coverage for their prescription medicines is an issue.
GlaxoSmithKline led the pharmaceutical industry two years ago when it launched the Orange Card for lower-income Medicare participants. The company will continue to offer prescription drug savings on GSK medicines through the Orange Card program. GSK will also provide prescription drug savings through participation in CMS cards.
"Today, we are reminding eligible seniors that they can hold both a new CMS card and a GSK Orange Card, giving them broader options for savings on their prescription medicines from GlaxoSmithKline." said Chris Viehbacher, President of US Pharmaceuticals.
Those eligible for the Orange Card are seniors and the disabled enrolled in Medicare who are low income and have no private or public insurance coverage for prescription medicines.
The Orange Card is free, and can be obtained by filling out a simple, one-page application form. Applications are available from physicians, or by calling a toll-free number: 1-888-ORANGE6. Seniors simply present the card with their prescription to their pharmacist to receive the savings on GSK outpatient prescription medicines.
GSK also offers its medicines with nominal co-pays for those who qualify for its Patient Assistance Programs (Bridges to Access and Commitment to Access).
GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world's leading research-base pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, is committed to improving the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer. For more information, please visit the company's web site at www.gsk.com

About GlaxoSmithKline Patient Assistance Programs: GSK offers two programs: Bridges to Access, which provides free medicines to eligible patients, and Commitment to Access, a special oncology medicine program.
