GSK is a leader in the worldwide consumer healthcare market. With nearly £3.5 billion in yearly sales, and a presence in 130 worldwide markets, our Consumer Healthcare business brings an added dynamic dimension to GSK.

Many of our brands - such as Panadol, Aquafresh, Lucozade and the Nicorette and Niquitin smoking cessation products - are household names around the world.

In one year the business produces, among many others, nine billion tablets to relieve stomach upsets, six billion tablets for pain relief, and 600 million tubes of toothpaste.

We have recently put in place programmes designed to increase the flow, pace and value of innovation, including increased investment in emerging markets.
 
With science their driving force, our R&D teams are aligned with the business focus categories of wellness, oral health, nutrition and skin health.

Based at four main R&D centres around the world, these teams are charged with helping increase the percentage of sales from innovation, deliver sustained and affordable innovation for all categories and regions, and direct more projects towards consumers in emerging markets.

Regulatory Affairs in Consumer Healthcare enhances our ability to rapidly roll out innovation and align global standards for quality and compliance.

Our scientists are external-facing, publishing and presenting key scientific findings and developing relationships with academia and external technology centres of excellence.

And where appropriate, we forge business partnerships around the world. We know the importance of bringing in external ideas and recognise that the best ideas often come from outside GSK.
