European Cervical Cancer Association (ECCA)
The ECCA was established specifically to co-ordinate a Europe-wide public health education programme that would raise awareness of cervical cancer and how it can be prevented. Cervical cancer could be greatly reduced in Europe if effective screening programmes were widely available and all women took advantage of these services. The ECCA was established specifically to address this issue by raising awareness of the importance of organised cervical screening.
We have supported this organisation since 2004.
During 2007:
- We gave an educational grant of 50,000 to support the European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week
- We also gave ECCA an honorarium of €500 to support the attendance of the Director General at GSK’s European Health Advisory Board meeting.
- We gave an unrestricted grant of €100,000 to help them with their work.
- We gave an unrestricted grant of €3000 to support the Patient Group Reception at the Eurogin meeting in MonteCarlo in September
- We paid €9932 to purchase ECCA's cervical cancer patient leaflets in Dutch language
- We gave in kind support to the value of €7000 via a PR agency to support the publication of the cervical cancer 'Map of Europe' - a graphic presentation of cervical cancer management across Europe.
We provided 22.3 per cent of their income overall in 2007.
