Cancerbackup

Cancerbackup is a UK charity, providing information, support and practical advice to anyone affected by cancer. They offer freephone helplines and local centres staffed by cancer specialist nurses, as well as a comprehensive range of patient-friendly publications and Europe’s leading cancer information website.

Cancerbackup’s range of publications includes over 70 booklets and 300 factsheets, covering site-specific cancers, treatments and the practical and emotional aspects of living with cancer. The information is written by their cancer specialist nurses and regularly reviewed and revised by some of the country’s leading cancer experts.

We have supported this organisation since 1993.

During 2007:

  • We gave a Medical Fellowship grant of £7,000 for the Cancerbackup Advocacy Support Programme. This Programme works to ensure that Cancerbackup is an effective and credible advocate for people affected by cancer.
  • We gave a Medical Fellowship grant of £6,000 to support the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer’s Britain Against Cancer Conference on 4th December 2007, which Cancerbackup organised through its position as secretariat to the group.
