Herts Aid

Herts Aid was formed in 1991 to meet the needs of local people living with HIV and AIDS. It started life as the East Herts Support Group, and Herts Aid itself was launched on World AIDS Day 1992.

Herts Aid welcomes anyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or sexuality and operates a strict confidentiality policy.

Some of the services they offer are:

  • Information and support
  • Alternative and complimentary therapies
  • Monthly Quality of Life club lunch meetings
  • Monthly women’s and men’s lunches
  • Monthly Sunday lunches
  • Newly diagnosed information packs
  • HIV/AIDS awareness and health education
  • Transport to hospital and clinic appointments (subject to availability)
  • Befriending
  • Counselling
  • Hardship grants
  • Referrals to other agencies
  • Outreach

We have supported this group since 2002.

During 2007:

  • We gave a donation of £1,000 to support World Aids Day 2007
  • We gave a donation of £4,000 support the ‘It won’t happen to me’ Theatre in Education production 
  • We gave a donation of £1,000 to set up a newly diagnosed resource pack.    

Our funding represents 4.6 per cent of their income overall.

Our work in the community
