The Stroke Association

The Stroke Association is the only UK wide charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. It funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps stroke patients and their families directly through its Rehabilitation and Support Services. These include communication support, family and carer support, information services and welfare grants. They also campaign, educate and inform to increase knowledge of stroke at all levels of society, and act as a voice for everyone affected by stroke.

We have supported this group since 1999.

During 2007:

  • We gave a charitable donation of £5,000 to support the Young Stroke Service, a scheme which provides support to young stroke survivors, their partners and families to assist with dealing with the physical, emotional and psychological changes associated with strokes and to enable young people to overcome feelings of isolation and encourage independence following a stroke.
  • We gave an unrestricted Medical Fellowship donation of £100 to support The Stroke Association for the benefit of patients, following a charity team building event at the 2007 Medical Conference.

Our funding represents less than 0.03 per cent of their income overall.
