Patient group funding

The European Parkinson's Disease Association (EPDA)

The EPDA is a non-political, non-religious, and non-profit making organisation concerned with the health and welfare of people living with Parkinson's disease and their families.Their aim is to promote international understanding of Parkinson's disease, enabling people living with Parkinson's and their families to draw on best caring practice worldwide, to access the latest medical and surgical advice and thus make informed choices to achieve the best quality of life possible.

We have supported this organisation since 2000.

During 2010:

  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €30,000 to help them with their activities

Our support represents 4.8% of their overall income



During 2009:

  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €30,000 to help them with their activities

Our support represents 5.11% of their overall income.




During 2008:

  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €30,000 to help them with their activities 
  •  In addition we gave educational grants of:
            - €4,500 to support the EPDA Plus Health Care Professional journal 
            - €10,000 to support the EPDA awareness project 
            - €10,000 to support their annual patient conference on 6-8 October
  • We also gave €600 in lieu of a speaker fee for the presentation of the results of the pan-European Real life; Real PD patient survey at a medical journalists meeting.

Our support represents 7.6% of their overall income.


During 2007:

  • We gave a medical fellowship grant of £10,000 to support their annual patient conference on 6-8 October
  • We gave a medical fellowship grant of £20,000 to help support their patient decision aid project 
  • We gave a medical fellowship grant of £16,900 to become a Platinum corporate supporter to help them with their activities  

Our funding represents 10.12% of their income overall.



In 2006:

  • We gave an unrestricted grant of £17,606 to help them with their work.

Our funding represents 14.8% of their income overall.
