Patient group funding

International Diabetes Federation - Europe (IDF)

IDF-Europe is an alliance of 65 diabetes associations representing all the EU States and countries in the wider Europe, a total of 46 countries. It is not strictly a patient group as its members include healthcare professionals. Its aims to include improving access to medication, equipment and education; combating misunderstanding of diabetes and prejudices towards those with diabetes; advocating collaboration between industry and NGOs; and promoting standards of practice and guidelines. The organisation is a charity registered in Belgium

We have supported this organisation since 2001.

During 2010:

  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €25,000 to help them with their activities  

Our support represents less than 4% of their overall income.



During 2009:

  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €25,000 to help them with their activities 

Our support represents 3.88% of their overall income.



During 2008:

  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €25,000 to help them with their activities 

Our support represents approximately 3.14% of their overall income.



During 2007:
  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €30,000 for the support of work towards implementation of the UN resolution on diabetes 
  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €50,000 to support IDF's work on seeking an EU Recommendation for diabetes 
  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €20,000 to help them with their activities 
  • We gave unrestricted grant of €5000 to help support a workshop on diabetes at the Bad Gastein Healthcare Conference (3-6 Oct 07) 
  • We gave an unrestricted grant of €10,000 to help support IDF-E's annual conference in Dublin (21-23 Sept 07) 

Our funding represents 16% of their income overall.



In 2006:

  • We supported IDF-Europe with core funding of €20,000.
  • We contributed to the creation and delivery of IDF-Europe's EU training programme aimed at assisting Member Organisations with approaches to the media and decision makers with an unrestricted grant of €9,000.
  • We have been supporting IDF-Europe's work towards a European Union Recommendation on diabetes with two unrestricted grants totalling €78,400.
  • We have also provided an unrestricted grant of €45,000 towards IDF-Europe's European Working Group towards securing a UN Resolution on diabetes.

Our funding represents 10% of their income overall.
