Body Positive North West (BPNW)

BPNW are a user-led organisation.  They aim to support self-help, self-management, and self-development for people living with and affected by HIV in the North West.  They have a professionally trained, registered and approved team of experts who can help guide people through any issues they may have, ranging from welfare benefits advice, social care, counselling, therapeutic services and training.  They are also one of the very few organisations to offer the Positive Self-Management course, which helps to empower an individual as they manage their life with HIV.

Their services are available to anyone living with or affected by HIV.  This includes partners, family and friends of people living with HIV, and also people at risk of HIV.  They aim to offer services that are appropriate for all regardless of gender, ethnicity or residency status.

We have supported organisation since 2008.

During 2009:

  • We gave a grant of £2,500 to support the development and delivery of a monthly rapid HIV testing service in North Lancashire.

Our support represents 1.8% of their overall income.

During 2008:

  • We gave a grant of £5,000 to support the advertising of BPNW's World AIDS Day Green Ribbon campaign to raise awareness of the need for HIV testing.

Our support represents 4% of their overall funding.
