Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK is the leading charity working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people to live with the condition.
Diabetes UK represents the interests of people with diabetes by lobbying the government for better standards of care and the best quality of life.
Diabetes UK mission is to improve the lives of people with diabetes and to work towards a future without diabetes.
We have supported this organisation since 1994.
During 2010:
- We paid £40,000 as sponsorship of the Young Diabetologists Forum annual meeting, held on 2 March.
- We paid £5,630 in registration fees for 15 staff members to attend the Diabetes UK Annual Conference, 3-5 March.
Our support represents <1% of their overall income.
During 2009:
- We gave Diabetes UK Cymru £575 for exhibition space at the Diabetes UK Cymru Conference on 25th September 2008.
- We gave £6,000 to support Diabetes UK Roadshows around Lincolnshire.
- We gave £4,000 in respect of speaker honoraria, venue and catering costs for the "21st Century Diabetes Care - What's the Story" conference held on 24th November 2009.
- We paid £25,740 for exhibition space at the Diabetes UK Annual Professional Conference, 3rd-5th March 2010.
Our support represents 0.13% of their overall income.
During 2008:
- We gave a charitable donation of £197,335 in support of a three year medical research project entitled 'Development of an Adolescent Diabetes Needs Assessment Tool'.
- We gave £25,000 for consultancy services and the use of the Diabetes UK logo on patient information leaflets.
- We gave Diabetes UK Northern Ireland £528.75 for exhibition space at the Annual Professional Diabetes Conference on 21 October 2008.
It is estimated that our support represents approximately 0.7% of their overall funding.
During 2006:
- We gave an educational grant of £25,080 to support the Diabetes UK Professional Conference.
- We gave a medical fellowship grant of £3,500 to support the maintenance of the Young Diabetologists Federation website.
- In addition we gave a medical fellowship grant of £2,010 to support Diabetes UK Cymru’s All Wales Diabetes Professional Conference and their Gwobrau Cymru - volunteers event.
