Patient group funding

Meningitis Research Foundation

Meningitis Research Foundation is a national registered charity at the forefront of fighting death and disability resulting from meningitis.

We have supported this organisation since 2000.

During 2010:

  • We gave £14,000 to support a series of outputs from the "Impact of Meningitis Study".
  • We gave £2,000 to support a regional training day.

Our support represents approximately 0.6% of their overall income.



During 2009:

  • We gave £10,000 as sponsorship of the Meningitis Research Foundation's Medical & Scientific Conference on 11 and 12 November 2009 and £7,000 for a GSK satellite breakfast session.
  • We gave £1,500 towards delegate travel costs for a Medical Advisory Service (MAS) Plus Training Day on 23 June 2009.  We also provided non-financial support in respect of a speaker for pharmacovigilance training.

Our support represents 0.6% of their overall income.



During 2008:

  • We gave an unrestricted core funding grant of £15,000 for the benefit of patients

Our support represents 0.625% of their overall funding..



During 2006:

  • Our charitable donation of £14,390 will support the re-printing and distribution of several booklets and information pamphlets for the "Red Flag" campaign

Our funding represents 1% of their income overall.
