Patient group funding

No Smoking Day

Established in 1983, No Smoking Day works to support smokers who want to quit. The charity does this by raising awareness of the Day, which takes place on the second Wednesday in March every year, and highlighting the many sources of help available for quitters.

We have supported this organisation since 2005.

During 2010:

  • We gave a donation of £9,000 to sponsor events to raise awareness with healthcare professionals of No Smoking Day on 9 March 2011
  • We paid a total of £16,260 for No Smoking Day 2010 posters and merchandise to be distributed to healthcare professionals and the public

Our support represents <4% of their overall income.



During 2009:

  • We gave £7,700 to raise awareness with Healthcare Professionals and consumers of No Smoking Day 2009 on 11 March
    • Through the development, production & distribution of materials.
    • Through creation of a scheme for healthcare professionals to recruit smokers to quit on No Smoking Day 2009.
  • We gave £9,750 (+ VAT) as sponsorship of 10 No Smoking Day road shows between 2 October and 19 November 2009
  • We paid £20,000 to purchase No Smoking Day point of sale posters

Our support represents approximately 3% of their overall income.



During 2008:

  • We gave a donation of £17,000 to raise awareness with Healthcare Professionals and consumers of No Smoking Day 2009 on 11 March
    • Through the development, production & distribution of materials.
    • Through creation of a scheme for healthcare professionals to recruit smokers to quit on No Smoking Day 2009.

    Additional support has also been agreed for 2009 to help implement No Smoking Day 2009.

Our support represents less than 2% of their overall income.
