Parkinson's Disease Society

The Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) provide support, advice and information to people with Parkinson's, their carers, families and friends, and to health and social services professionals involved in management and care. Their brand values are to be supportive, inclusive and expert. They are a registered charity.

Each year the Society spends more than £2 million on funding research into the cause, cure and prevention of Parkinson's, and improvements in available treatments. The Society also develops models of good practice in service provision, such as Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialists and respite care, and campaigns for changes that will improve the lives of people affected by Parkinson's.

  • Our staff continued to support the 'Compassion Day initiative' where twelve members gave one working day back to Parkinson's disease and become a volunteer for a day. There have been a range of activities on these days from fund raising with a collection tin out side the supermarket, assisting on PD days out pushing wheel chairs, redecoration of a holiday home to being the nurse on call at the PDS AGM.
