The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation works towards defeating lung cancer through research, campaigning and education. They provide practical and emotional support for patients and all those affected by lung cancer and smoking. They enable children and young people to make informed decisions about smoking and the tobacco industry.
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation provides the secretariat for the Global Lung Cancer Coalition (GLCC) and as such, its finance and governance procedures.
We have supported this organisation since 2003.
During 2010:
- We gave £7,750 to support the management and implementation of "The Earlier Lung Cancer Diagnosis Campaign".
- We also provided in kind support through use of an agency to develop patient case studies to support Lung Cancer Awareness Month 2010 and other lung cancer awareness activities.
Our support represents <1% of their overall income.
During 2008:
- We gave a donation of £2,500 to support the Fag Ends Service pilot new approaches to stopping smoking for presentation at the UK National Smoking Cessation Conference.

During 2007:
- We gave a Medical Fellowship donation of £2,000 for the National Clean Air Award Update and Re-launch
- We gave a Medical Fellowship donation of £5,000 for the Evaluation of the Lung Health Workplace Project Pilot
Our funding represents less than 1% of their income overall.
In 2006:
- We gave an educational grant of £2,231 to support the Tobacco Policy Manager to attend and present a poster at the World Congress on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) in Washington DC, USA in July 2006. Our sponsorship covered travel, accommodation and registration fees.
- We gave an educational grant of £2,000 to support, develop and produce the "Why Wait to Plan" smoke free legislation toolkit and leaflets for employers.
- We gave £1,000 to sponsor RCLCF members (registration and accommodation) attendance at the UK National Smoking Cessation Conference in Gateshead in June 2006.
Our funding represents less than 1% of their income overall.
