Patient group funding
The Crescent Support Group
The Crescent has been a dedicated centre, providing support and care both by and for people living with HIV, their partners, families and friends for more than 15 years. They describe themselves as an organisation run both 'by and for people living with HIV'.
We have supported this group since 2006.
During 2006:
- We gave a medical fellowship award of £5,000 to support a project for African patients who are coming to terms with their status or about to reveal their HIV status. The project aims to engage/support these patients, family and friends in their ability to select the culturally appropriate approach for this discussion to happen.
Our funding represents 5% of their income overall.
