Artwork and design apprenticeships
Do you fancy becoming a CAD operator or a graphic designer? Are you interested in knowing what it takes to be an artwork operator or proof reader? Why not learn on the job while being paid on one of our artwork and design apprenticeships in the UK?
Based at Barnard Castle, Co Durham
What will the apprenticeship offer me?
Our apprenticeships offer the chance to study towards nationally recognised qualifications while gaining valuable, paid work experience. Apprentices work towards a minimum level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
What will the programme be like?
Ever wondered who designs the artwork for a bottle of Lucozade, a tube of Aquafresh toothpaste or the leaflet in a pharmaceutical pack? If so, then you might be interested in an Artwork and Design apprenticeship in Pack Artwork Shared Service (PASS).
PASS manages all the artwork for our Pharmaceuticals, Vaccines and Consumer Healthcare businesses through three studios based in Barnard Castle (UK), Verona (Italy) and Hyderabad (India).
Our artwork and design apprenticeship covers all the main roles within PASS including:
- CAD operators provide the technical specifications and drawings for our leaflets, the cartons that contain our products and the labels that give consumers the information they need. They work closely with packaging technologists to make sure what they produce will run efficiently on our packing lines.
- Graphic designers / artwork operators create the final artwork by combining both the technical and bar code information with scientific text which describes the product. This usually includes dosage and other safety information. Our designers also combine graphic elements, such as logos, making sure all colours and fonts fit with our branding guidelines.
- Proof readers give all the artwork a final quality assurance check, making sure that it meets the original objectives accurately and in line with legal requirements.
