Graduate information technology (IT) programme

Do you have a passion for technology? Do you want to use IT to deliver life-enhancing healthcare?

We have two graduate programmes on offer IT and SAP.

Our IT development programme offers all-round experience and aims to develop our future IT leaders, whilst our SAP Capability Development Programme (SCDP) offers the opportunity to be a part of one of the worlds largest Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) SAP implementation programmes.

What's it all about?

Information technology is all about exploiting and utilising computer systems as part of our strategic journey to deliver life-enhancing healthcare that enables people to do more, feel better and live longer. Our three-year rotational IT development programme (ITDP) aims to turn highly talented graduates into our future IT leaders. Four rotations over the three years, each lasting nine months, will give you a broad understanding of our key business areas and essential IT roles. Rotations could see you in the role of business analyst, project manager, service analyst or solutions architect.

Do I have the skills?

Combining an IT or business-related degree with strong analytical and influencing skills, you’ll be passionate about technology and able to establish good working relationships. An enthusiastic, resilient self-starter and team player, you’ll need the courage to embrace change and the drive to lead by example.

What will the programme be like?

Over the three years, you’ll be assigned to different functional areas within IT. These could include research and development IT, application services, corporate, global manufacturing IT, commercial IT or infrastructure. This broad experience will help you to build up detailed knowledge of IT and develop skills in leadership, influencing and negotiation. On completion of the programme, you’ll move into a full-time IT role in line with business needs and your development.

Throughout the programme, you can count on a solid support network. This will include a programme sponsor, your programme and line managers, alumni, a buddy and, of course, other graduates on the scheme.

Where can I go?

The support network that you build will continue long after you finish the programme. Many ITDP alumni are still with us after more than 10 years and some have become vice presidents or directors. The programme will give you different business perspectives and many insights into how IT operates in our organisation. This will help you to decide which career path within IT is best for you.

What will I learn?

The ITDP programme is an investment in you. It will help you become the best you can be and provide opportunities for rounded development. Your rotation process will ensure that you are in the  right position to develop to your full potential. The rotations will be diverse and challenging, providing you with a high level of responsibility.

Training and development is specific to rotations. Our courses are designed to develop specific skill sets and enable you to deliver real benefits to the business. Technical courses could include business analysis tools and techniques, project management, Six Sigma and ITIL. Personal development courses may cover presentation, influencing and interviewing skills.

How can I apply?

Applications are now closed for our programmes starting in 2013. Details of the 2014 programmes will be posted in September 2013.
