Graduate procurement progarmme
Do you want to learn about global procurement? Are you keen to develop skills in managing projects, negotiating with suppliers and carrying out market research and data analysis?
What's procurement all about?
Procurement is all about buying goods and services on a global scale. Our global procurement function spends billions every year to improve quality, drive down costs and ensure secure supply, in all areas of our business from consumer health products to pharmaceutical development.
Do I have the skills?
Whatever your degree, you'll be a self-starter with a strong interest in procurement. You should be on track for or have achieved at least a 2.1. You will be an excellent communicator, able to establish good working relationships, resilient and commercially driven. Strong influencing, analytical and multi-tasking skills will also be required. You must also be internationally mobile.
What will the programme be like?
The programme is designed to give you a solid procurement background. Potential rotations include production, research and development (R&D), commercial, IT and corporate, and global eSourcing. You'll manage spend across whole categories, and build and run e-bid events and auctions. You’ll also get involved in project management, contracting, supplier conditioning, negotiation, data analysis, market research and stakeholder engagement.
Where can I go?
Our graduate programme will help you to develop every step of the way within the procurement organisation. As well as exploring everything we have to offer in the UK, you’ll network with procurement associates in the US, Singapore and Belgium. Interaction with senior leaders and constant challenges will help turn you into a future procurement leader. There may also be international career opportunities in the future.
What will I learn?
After a robust induction, we'll teach you how to apply best practice tools and techniques to develop and implement an integrated procurement strategy. Formal training and ongoing informal support will build your skills in different areas, giving you a breadth of procurement knowledge.
How can I apply?
Applications are now closed for our programmes starting in 2013. Details of the 2014 programmes will be posted in September 2013.
