What's it really like?

Name:

Maiher-Un

Role:

Analytical Chemistry Associate

Degree:

Chemistry MChem

University:

Cardiff

Experiences:

During my industrial placement with GSK, I got the opportunity to work on a wide range of products which showed me the global portfolio of the company. Upon completing my final year at University, I returned to work as an analytical chemist on the GMS graduate scheme and am currently within my 2nd rotation of scheme.

As an analytical chemist my primary role is within a quality function. I routinely support the manufacturing of products by providing quality assurance and control data. This is done through the use of analytical technologies such as liquid and gas chromatography.

I am involved in conducting analytical method development and validation and work alongside a range of functions including R&D scientists and engineers. Through the scheme I have worked on a range of products and different dosage forms from raw materials to tablets and capsules.

The scheme enables all graduates to experience several different placements across the UK and EIRE. This great opportunity means that you get to develop a range of broad skills as well as work with different people, products and sites and really get to see the GSK network.
