Help for Heroes partnership
GSK works in partnership with Help for Heroes to support the rehabilitation of wounded servicemen and women in the UK.
Help for Heroes works closely with the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force to provide direct, practical support to servicemen and women who are wounded, injured or have become sick while in the service of the UK.
In 2011 GSK and Help for Heroes announced a partnership to help injured British armed forces personnel successfully transition back into civilian life. The partnership focuses on the creation and ongoing operation of the Phoenix Centre – a specialist wellness centre at Tedworth House, Wiltshire.
Opened in November 2012, the Phoenix Wellness Centre delivers health, sport and exercise programmes to help servicemen and women achieve their individual physical and psychological recovery goals. The facilities include a Swimex, Skiplex, strength and conditioning gym and team sports gymnasium.
We have pledged £1 million to Help for Heroes over 5 years to be used towards the initial construction and the ongoing running of the Phoenix Wellness Centre. We will also provide pro-bono support in the form of know-how and expertise and will offer our employees volunteering opportunities with Help for Heroes as part of a broader partnership between the two groups.
