Asthma

Treatment of asthma
Some people with asthma just need a reliever medicine that they can use when they have some difficulty breathing. Others need everyday treatment – ‘preventer medicines’ that are designed to prevent more serious attacks. .

In emergency cases, relievers are used to reduce inflammation as quickly as possible to help breathing return to normal. These can be injected but are often administered via a nebulizer, a device which produces a fine mist to be inhaled.  A severe attack may also require oral tablet treatment to reduce inflammation and prevent further attacks.
