It gives me a good feeling knowing that my work is actually helping people.
For example, when I was managing the plant system in my first year, that’s the starting point for all our products. If that system goes wrong, it causes problems all along the supply chain. That’s why I take pride in the work that I do. GSK is more than a company, it’s where people put their heart and soul into their work. We feel for our patients and want to constantly improve our business so that we can deliver better medicines and products to them.

At the same time, we also form a closely-knit family within our team. The FLP graduates often meet up in the office here in Singapore, get a takeaway and have ‘learn and share’ sessions. We also have annual getaway trips where, for example, we’ve headed out as a group to Malaysia and gone go-karting.
My FLP journey has been filled with fun, laughter and challenges. It’s an experience that can open up so many opportunities."
The diverse types of people you meet at GSK add an important extra dimension. Every day is interesting because you’re interacting with different people from different cultures, so you’re encountering new problems to solve and learning new things all the time. There’s never a dull day in the office!
During my three years in the programme, I’ve had opportunities to try so many different roles. I started off in the GMS Primary Plant in Singapore Jurong, where I learned about change management and IT compliance.
Next I worked in the consumer and commercial IT team where I was involved in Project Connect, introducing new web platforms to engage healthcare professionals in our products.
Finally, I went on an overseas secondment to the UK, working as delivery support for the Integrating and Connecting Enterprise Resource Planning team. This experience was both valuable and enriching, and gave me the chance to engage with many of the UK GSK leaders in various business units.
My FLP journey has been filled with fun, laughter and challenges. It’s an experience that can open up so many opportunities if you know how to make the most of it.
