GSK IMPACT Awards

\n

Since 1997, we’ve given over £8.9 million to more than 560 community healthcare charities across the UK. Winning charities receive £40,000 in unrestricted funds and are invited to take part in the GSK IMPACT Awards Development Programme and Network. In 2027, we will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the GSK IMPACT Awards. ​

The GSK IMPACT Awards celebrate charities that make a real difference to health and wellbeing throughout the UK. Run in partnership with The King’s Fund, a leading independent health charity, these awards recognise and support small to medium sized charities that are at least three years old with annual income between £150,000 and £3 million.  ​

The GSK IMPACT Awards assess applicants across six key areas: innovation in tackling healthcare access and delivery; strong management and effective use of resources; collaborative partnership working and willingness to share learning; clear, measurable achievements and impact; a community-focused approach that engages users; and a clear focus on targeting those most in need.

GSK IMPACT Awards Development Programme and Network ​

Winners are invited to participate in a three-day training and development programme with The King’s Fund and are also encouraged to join the GSK IMPACT Awards Network, which provide ongoing support and connect past winners together. The programme is designed to encourage members to work with each other, grow together, and share best practices both online and at face-to-face meetings to promote their continued success and growth. ​

GSK Community Health programme

The GSK Community Health programme is an annual programme that recognises very small charities across the UK that are working closely within their communities to tackle health inequalities. It is designed to run alongside the GSK IMPACT Awards and support the next generation of award winners. We know from our long history with the GSK IMPACT Awards that the combination of funding and leadership support can help a charity realise its ambitions. The GSK Community Health programme is open to registered charities that are at least a year old, located and working in the UK with a total annual income between £20,000 and £150,000. Up to 15 charities will receive up to £10,000 unrestricted funding, plus access to a training and development leadership programme. ​

Supporting the next generation of innovators ​

\n

Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers support economic mobility and drive innovation. Through our charitable investments, we increase young people’s value of and confidence in doing science and pursuing STEM careers.  The community programmes that we support increase access to exciting STEM education that is culturally relevant, connected to real careers and builds science identity. ​

\n

In 2023, we launched our £6m, 10-year UK STEM access programme, designed to inspire and support the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians, including those from backgrounds that are under-represented in these specialist careers in the UK. ​

\n

Working with Stemettes, STEM Learning, the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE), Covent Garden Dragon Hall Trust , Royal Society of Chemistry and Youth Careers Collective (formerly Spark!), we collaborate to drive nationwide STEM mentoring for at least 4,000 11 to 25-year-olds in the UK over the next three years.

WellChild gives seriously ill children the best chance to thrive.
