Being ambitious for patients is something that is very tangible in my line of work. I'm a Director of Patient Advocacy for the U.S. Oncology Business.

So, my role is to liaise on behalf of U.S. Oncology with external patient advocacy groups to make sure that their voice is being brought into U.S. Oncology, as well as to make sure that I represent our business externally to gynaecologic cancer and ovarian cancer patient groups.

In my role, doing the right thing is really making sure that GSK is showing up for patients in the right way. It's making sure that when they're asking us or telling us that they want to see more from industry, from pharma, about something, that we take that feedback back and share it internally.

It's important to me because I feel like it's truly one of the special jobs at GSK, and I have the privilege of not only getting to talk to the groups, but being able to elevate that voice to make sure everybody hears that patient voice and understands why it's important.

I'll never forget telling my mother, in particular. Well, now I work with patient groups in the cancer space, and she said to me, Oh, how sad. I said, No, it's not sad. I said, Because they look at us as hope.

Every time there is a medication that is approved in the cancer space, even if it is not for their particular patient population, that there's a company out there still doing work and having innovations. That is delivering hope. It's an incredible sense of pride. You really walk around feeling like you're a part of something special.
